Best sushi ever!!!. I've been to tons of sushi restaurants and am never too impressed with the taste. Usually, I get bland sushi from a restaurant that has little to no atmosphere inside. No culture. Mikuni makes you feel like you're welcome as soon as you enter the door. You can sit at the bar where the sushi chefs make their food & they'll talk to you about your day. They have tons of rolls available AND you can even ask them to make you custom rolls how you want them. If you want the best mouth savoring flavors, eat at Mikuni. I'm a huge fan of the Incredible roll, the Train Wreck roll, Benjamin roll (invented by their own sushi chef, Benjamin), the Fair Oaks roll & sea steak.

Great way to get introduced to sushi.. I am new to sushi, and I have to admit, for years I was intrigued by the idea, but also very apprehensive because of my American-centric culinary upbringing. I will say though, after my first visit to Mikuni's in Elk Grove, I have been craving sushi on a daily basis, and now have it at least once a week. At Mikuni's, you will find all sorts of fusion style rolls, that have a lot of ingredients, and can really be intimidating for a first time sushi eater. I would recommend keeping it simple: a green salad with wasabi ranch (freaking heavenly), some edamame, and then try a California or a spicy tuna roll.

I found that tuna, even if you aren't used to raw fish, is very good to start out with, because it has such a good flavor, and mixed with the rice, nori and soy sauce - is an excellent start.

I'll always go back to Mikuni's to get my sushi fix. While I am certain there are other more authentic places in the Sac area - Mikuni's has a great atmosphere, good food, and is a great experience.
