Charming European Atmosphere. Been coming here since it opened. Love the Happy Hour and the bar menu. Have had a lot of special occasions at this beautiful place. I always feel like I am in Europe, Love the friendly staff and Tony the bartender is great. Outside seating is charming when the weather permits. They also have music in the patio on weekends.Never disappointed except a Thanksgiving, with a Prix Fix menu...but they were busy and I forgave them.

Ambiance..great Food..not. When I first arrived I thought this was going to be a Great experience having traveled to France within the last year. The ambiance of the place was great. Very much like some of the places we traveled to in the south of France. This is where things were different. The places in France are more about the food and not so much the ambiance. The food at La Provence was very ordinary at best. Just trying to be honest about my evening. I think the chefs at La Provence need to really step up the food. We were a large party of fourteen people and I think most of us at the table were not overly impressed with our dishes. I would also say that the staff was nothing special. A place like La Provence has so much going for it. I really wanted to leave that evening thinking that I would have a place to visit to relive my trip to France. I would give it two stars because it has potential but in my opinion it is still very young and has a long ways to go. I usually judge a restaurant on the fact that I would return again and again. I would like La Provence to become that place but right now it has fallen short. I will revisit and I promise to update my review if it shows improvement. I generally do not write reviews but I think this place has a ton of potential.

Great Romantic Roseville Dining!. I live within walking distance of La Provence and eat there quite often. With the recent opening of the park next to La Provence we utilize the dog leash parks and bike trails during the weekends and stop in for their "graffeo" (not sure of the spelling) coffee, espresso, and fresh french cookies. Last time I was in they added some local producer's cheese and olive oils into their deli. It's a beautiful place that reminds me the french cafe's in Provence.

I am a "foodie", I enjoy good, fresh, regional ingredients prepared with passion. I definately recommend that you follow the Mike Dunne articles in the Sacramento Bee and enjoy his reviews and blogs. I can see why he has consistently given La Provence a top 10 rating in Sacramento. The heirloom tomatoes are actually heirloom and in their proper season! The dishes I enjoy the most are the gnocci, lamb, and the foie when they have it. I' also enjoy Hawks and Taste, but La Provence has that extra touch. As long as I remember Ruth Chris, Il Foranio and Piatti are all chains and purchase their food like a chain going into a meal, they're not bad.

I've attended a couple of wine dinners at La Provence, Cakebread, Jordan and Silver Oak to be specific and had a magical time. The food was to die for and the pairings amazing. The wine list has a great selection of french and foothill wines.

It hasn't always been perfect but when we've asked for a manager they greeted us warmly and quickly resolved any issue we had. If I had a criticism it's that they can be too busy and too loud at peak times, but their recent addition of oil paintings on the walls has seemed to help.

I've dined at La Provence when they've lit outdoor fire pits with real wood and we were able to go out and take our desserts and coffee outside and interact with other guests doing the same.I've actually seen them have small garden weddings at sunset during spring and fall. It is truly a romantic place that my wife and I enjoy.

When making a reservation specify the main dining room. Otherwise beware.. The main dining room is great. Make sure they don't stick you in the overflow room. It's like being in Cattleman's. Noisy and no ambiance. The food and service are OK but nothing special.
