What users are saying:
Renovated downtown park honors workers'-rights activist.

Overview
To attract the lunch crowd and shoppers to this neglected square-block, the city renovated the park in the late 90s. Officials renamed it Cesar Chavez Park and added a statue of the late United Farm Workers Union founder as the focal point of the main fountain, along with new trees and picnic tables. It's still not pulling in throngs like those in the wooded State Capitol Park three blocks away, but those looking for a quick outdoor lunch spot or a place to read a book from the library across the street find these three acres convenient.
The Appeal
Make a special trip for the Downtown Certified Farmers' Market on Wednesdays from May through November. Slackers and workers can also be found grooving to a host of free Friday evening music concerts May through mid-July.
