The negative reviews are far from old or inaccurate. The only people that give this place a positive review are the ones that work there, friends of the employees or the click that hangs out in there. If this place were to rely on new customers or visiting patrons it would finally close down. If you do a little background check on the employee's, (yes even some of the current bouncers) and the practices of the staff you would not be comfortable or safe with your findings. In addition you have some of Sacramento County's Finest ( Sac PD) that hang out there on a regular basis. Makes you wander.......why is it they never get in trouble for the actions that would get other establishments fined, closed or liquor licence revoked. Now they mix gambling into it even more. Watch you back in this place,.....it's only a matter of time.

Pros: One Bartender

Cons: Everything and Everyone else!

This Bar is rapidly returning to it's status of the 80's when it was affectionately known as known as the "slimelight". A fair portion of the staff is becoming known for unprofessional attitude, disrespectful comments towards women, ethnic slurs etc.... The management is aware of the actions of the staff and blatantly disregard it fallowed by a smirk. The surrounding business's and some of the employers have commented or made reference that the bar commonly has issues. It is also known that a fair number of law enforcement officers frequent the establishment when not on duty, yet the actions still persist! (WOW,...this makes anyone feel safe (right!!!) One patron even stated, "they think they are untouchable because they have cops come in here." So sure if you want to listen to crude and derogatory comments made to women, deal with confrontational bouncers & staff along with management ("Mr.H") that condones & ignores the unprofessional actions, by all means grab a drink there! After all they do make a good cheap drink and have a card room. Heaven forbid you ever expect professionals from this place!!!! The are too many decent places downtown to spend your money at, few of them just around the corner!

Pros: Good cheap drinks

Cons: The bouncers, Management and only two good bartenders

The review is very old. The Limelight is both a bar-pub and poker card room. On the bar-pub side there is a good bar staff cheap drinks and lots of great beer choices, multiple TVs and plasmas in the bar area, the same in the cafe, plus an out door patio with a plasma, all great for watching sports or just relaxing with a drink. The food is typical pub fare with low prices $6-$14 and very tasty. The bar on Fri or Sat. is a both a locals and college groups hang out. All ages will feel comfortable. The card room is a tight space with 7 or 8 poker tables and 1 blackjack table in the cafe. The ambiance feels like an old style cardroom (not like a brightly lit bingo parlorl) Open 24/7 the Limelight features poker tournaments twice a day, limit and no-limit holdem, lo-ball and the best No-Limit Texas Holdem action in Sacramento. The poker room is fairly well run, with fast seating, friendly staff, and the the lowest collection rate $3 in Sacramento (no Jackpot here). The only negative is the parking, there is almost no parking at the limelight. To park use the Safeway - Bank Parking across the street.

Pros: Great food/drink, excellent poker action, friendly staff

Cons: parking, crowded card room

The Limelight is fun and friendly. If you are a repeat customer the staff will take great care of you. Groups CAN have fun. The patio IS great. There are NO more pool tables or videogames and a few more poker tables in back. But there is a new plasma screen in the back, there is a fun trivia game in the front, a fantastic jukebox and great regulars. Come enjoy!

A group of us had breakfast there a few weeks ago. The service used to be excellent and the food excellent. We had a terrible experience. There was not enough wait staff and it left us with out coffee, water and our meals took for ever.

Since limelight has lost their chef the food has gone from a perfect 10 to a Negative one. They cut the menu in half taking all their signiture dishes off, after eating their and being very disappointed I don't know where they got this new cook but he sucks. They Use to have the best Filet in town, but now its not even on the menu because its to hard for the new cook to make.

Limelight is the best...the food, drinks, crowd are great. There's a lot of spots I like in Sac but there's a guaranteed good time to be had at this place.

Pros: Inexpensive, Good Crowd, Relaxed Atmosphere
