Indian Food by Cheryl K. at InsiderPages

I really like the food at Kathmandu, particularly the samosas. Unfortunately, it's very expensive. However, they do have a lunch buffet which is more worthwhile (although you'd have to order a side of samosas since they are not included).
Delightful experience every time I go!

Katmandu is a wonderful little place where prices are reasonable, food is above par and staff very attentive. The food quality for Katmandu in Sacramento exceeds the Davis restaurant, tho atmosphere in Sac is less romantic. I highly recommend the saag gosht (lamb & spinach), or the vegetarian alternative w/cheese. All dishes are delicious and staff extremely pleasant. You'll enjoy either lunch or dinner, no doubt.
- Pros: Great price, quality good-great, excellent staff
- Cons: Could probably use some refurbishing, but is definitely pleasant and soothing

Indian food is my favorite food and this is my favorite Indian restaurant. It's definitely the best in Davis. I go to school in Los Angeles where I go out to eat at least 2 times a week because the restaurants are so amazing, but I have yet to find an Indian restaurant that I like more than Davis' Kathmandu Kitchen. I highly recommend going with 3 or more people, because Indian food is much better when it's shared so that you can eat multiple things.

I had a wonderful experience at Kathmandu Kitchen this weekend. A group of us went in because we had a friend that suggested we try it out. Right when I walked in everyone was very friendly and helpful. We had to wait about ten minutes but it was worth it. The food was flavorful and well presented with large portions. Our waitress was very helpful with suggestions and gave us great service, we will be returning very soon.
- Pros: The food, service, selection
- Cons: It was a little warm inside

Although there are no better Indian food choices in Davis, don't waste your money here. The food was mediocre and it is expensive. I am used to the deep flavors of Indian food, and this food tasted almost bland. Spicy-hot does not make up for the deep flavors of Indian cuisine. I admit, I am vegetarian so I only tried the veg dishes. My husband is not, however, and did not find the meat dishes much better. We have given up on Davis for Indian food and drive out of the area for this treat.
- Pros: Interesting restaurant
- Cons: Bland food, too expensive
Best Indian Food in Town

This place is a tad bit expensive, but the best Indian place in around. Note, it has a Napelease twist, so it wont be your run of the mill Indian cuisine. The meat dishes 'ala carte' are unsurpassed, and the Na'an is always hot, soft and flavorful. The vegetable dishes and dessert are something to be desired, but when we go, we usually just stick with chicken and lamb anyway. Try the Lamb Vindaloo, traditional lamb curry, or chicken tikka masala. If you like spice, you should LOVE this dishes. Give it a try.
- Pros: lamb curry, chicken curry
- Cons: vegetable dishes, lukewarm service
Food Ok- Women Beware by R G. at InsiderPages

The food is pretty good and not too overpriced like many of the places here in Davis. However, you will be treated much better if you dine-in rather than be largely ignored if you order out. This is worse if you a woman because they will outright ignore your very being at the counter and take a man's order before yours. This has happened to me twice and I've watched it happen to other women as well. However, after some talking into I returned with friends and dined in where I noticed that they will actually acknowledge the females at the table. Perhaps because they have to?

I know the owners personally now, after having eaten here many times. I must say that it seems the food gets better every time I dine. Outstanding taste, service, and ambience. Bravo!!
