Receiving an average of 500 inches of snow per year, this resort has a reputation as being the snowiest in Tahoe.

The Scene
The Sugar Bowl Lodge, in a rambling, wood-frame building, offers 40 rooms (almost always booked throughout the season) and one of the best restaurants in the region. Access to the base area used to be exclusively provided by the Magic Carpet gondola from the parking lot, but now with a second base area at Mount Judah, skiers can drive directly to the slopes.
The Slopes
Mount Judah offers two chairlifts, a dozen mostly intermediate runs and a separate base lodge, and it provides quite a modern contrast to the original base area, which is accessible only by gondola or chairlift and has an aristocratic, Tyrolean atmosphere. The ski area has three mountain faces, dominated by Mount Lincoln (elevation 8,383 feet) and Mount Disney (7,953 feet). Most of the runs from these peaks range from advanced to expert. Narrow chutes and gullies create natural half-pipes for snowboarders.
