I have been wanting to go to Zeldas Pizza for a long time but after reading all of these bad, inaccurate reviews here I was almost afraid to go. I finally went last night with my wife and we had a very nice dining experience! The Pizza and the service was awesome! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone! Thank You Zeldas!....................G & M West, Somerset, Ca.

Still Good 20 Years Later by Rodger F. at InsiderPages

My last visit to Zelda's last week and was a good as the first time, 20 years ago. The place inside is still dark and has booths that ara little uncomfortable after sitting a while, but the food it worth it. For first timers I would highly recommend the combination. A nice mix of toppings, and two pieces will fill you up. For those wanting to be adventures, the pesto pizza is just as yummy. Add a cheep pitcher of beer, and you can not find a better meal in town.

Authentic chicago pizza, very tasty and with abundant toppings. The service leaves much to be desired. Snotty server with no time to come back and offer extra napkins or refills or anything. I would go back for the pizza though, it was that good..
AWFUL FOOD AND TERRIBLE SERVICE

I tried to like this place because ambiance is important to me, and Zelda's is old school woodsy and dark. But that's the ONLY thing Zelda's has going for it. I tried again and again because I've found that places and people that can seem offensive in the beginning often wind up being your favorites. Zelda's is the exception, as it's progressively disappointing every time. They pride themselves on having some of the worst service in town (just check their website) and the pizza is so NOT GOOD. The crust is supposed to be the big draw (I can't imagine what else could be) and it's saturated with butter and flaky and just bad. If you're looking for bad food, awful service and an annoyingly long wait for no apparent reason, then come here by all means. Other wise, stick with places with GOOD reviews, and maybe, I dunno, a HOSTESS.
- Pros: Wooden Booths

A Sacramento CLassic

Zelda's is a Sacramento Institution...and it's hard to explain why, but it just is. I can;t even eat pizza (allergic to dairy) but I go in there just to smell it. And to check out all the hot pizza babes that work there.
Try Zelda's
Customer service drove me away.

I have tried Zelda's 3 different times. The first time I just stopped in and the wait was incredibly long. It took over an hour to get our pizza, and the service was horrible. If you wanted anything you had to get ahold of the server. The second time I tried, we called in to pick up the pizza, and arrived at the time they said and the doors were locked. We had to knock on the door for quite a while before getting our pizza. The third time, we called ahead of time so that the pie would be ready when we arrived. When we came in at the time they specified, it took 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that we were there (and it was not that busy), then they seated us and it took another 25-30 minutes before the pie was ready. Again the service was horrible, and we had to chase down a server to get our pie, as well as our check. Though the pizza is okay, I will not eat at Zelda's again. Considering I am frustrated enough to do a review (and this is my first review ever!!!), should let you know how dissatisfied I was.
- Pros: good pizza
- Cons: customer service

I really like their deep dish pizza here. The crust is tasty. We went as a group and had a fun time. We waited a the bar for a while before being seated, but that gave us time to visit. By the time we sat down our pizza was ready. We took home a lot of leftovers. It was good the next day too.
- Pros: crust!
Go to Dante's California Style Pizza in Stockton instead

If all you people want the best pizza in northern California dont go to Sac or Zeldas go to Stockton California and look up Dante's California style pizza. I have been eating there for 20 years and you can get pizza or steaks or pastas or sandwiches. The dough is great! The sause is great! The pizza is the best if you dont like it I'll pay you back!
- Pros: it's pizza
- Cons: it's not Dantes

i've heard alot about zelda's. I tried it oneday and I was disappointed. I think it was overly hyped by the owner. The pizza was lousy. It was not I've expected. Honestly, Costco pizza taste alot more better than zelda"s. I will not even feed this to my dog..I'm really sorry but I have to be honest
- Pros: none
- Cons: alot
Over hyped pizza... but it is good.

After having read numerous reviews, both internet and magazine, about Zelda's, I just had to plan a visit. I happen to be in Sac today for business and found myself near Zeldas... and hey, it was lunch-time!
I ordered a brocalini pizza and a beer (draft bud). The beer was good.. but whats with the TINY glasses? After about 30 mins, the pizza came......
Now, I'm not a Chicago pizza expert, but the pie just seemed a bit thin. Flavor wise, based on my experience eating at Zachary's and Pizzaria Uno (only franchises in CA) and expecting something in that vein, well... I expected something truly extraordinary. Well, Zelda's just did not live up to the HYPE!
I do agree with justagoy and bobzmcishl... the pizza was good but not great. The crust was fine. a bit crisp and buttery like Uno's... the finllings were fine, though a bit bland in parts... kinda like they missed sprinkling the good stuff evenly all over... in general.. it was good. Of course, now I wish I had just ordered a regular pepperoni pizza... :) Furthermore, $16 bucks for a small pizza and one TINY beer, kinda expensive.
I'm definately glad I did not make a trip specifically to eat here.
All, I know is that I will still keep making my semi-monthly trip to Oakland to eat at Zachary's!
