The premiere space for experimental theater.

by Contributor

The Scene
Located in the basement of a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1896, the Geery seats just over 50 people. The seats are relatively comfortable, but legroom is sparse. Tasteful, music-related decor accents the space, which is used for music and singing rehearsal and recital during the day. The stage is small but functional and challenges artistic designers to overcome the shortage of space.

Historically Speaking
In 1949 Edward Pease and his wife Zueletia Geery converted the basement space of their music conservatory into a theater. After 75 years in the same family, the theater continues to be on the cutting edge. It breaks new ground by hosting experimental and controversial plays produced by a number of groups including Stageright Productions and The Lambda Players, a gay and lesbian performance group.
