Its definitely a 5 star place.
by SueL37
When I found the Freeport Bakery and saw it was a bit crowded I knew it must be good.
The store is absolutely adorable inside and out. I was a bit disappointed at the limited seating. But I can get past that.
In addition to the great sweets, the breads are really good as well and the service was fast. A nice assortment of fresh, baked goods. They have great artistry in their desserts. I hear the bakery is known for their fruit basket cake .
I just had to have one of the bran muffins with cream cheese. My total was only a little over $6, not bad at all. Its definitely a 5 star place.
Heart broken

We got our wedding cake from them, but when I first arrived at the reception hall, I was disappointed and heart broken because they didn't do a great job with the detailing. My florist had to make little arrangements just to make it stand out a little. It was so plain looking and very expensive. On our cake cutting time, the fondant was so thick, we couldn't even slice it smoothly and we had used both of our hands. We had confirmed everything before our wedding. I now order my cakes from Ettore's and Cheesecake Factory.

I love freeport bakery!! I bought the carrot cake and the frosting was outstanding. I love the ambience. The cost is fair so worth it. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to go back

The Goods
What a lot of people don't know is that Freeport also has savory items for breakfast and lunch, like potato knishes (heavenly) and several varieties of quiche. However, these savories are really only a prelude to the desserts--you eat them only to pad your stomach with something "healthy" before gorging on what you really want, like the princess cake, the lemon cooler cake, or the "triples" chocolate cookies. One thing you'll really like about Freeport Bakery is that you can have a slice of just about any cake that you see in the case. Even if it's whole, they'll cut it for you. The pies are also excellent, as are the many house-baked breads and danishes.
When to Go
The space inside is pretty limited, and there are only a few tables out front, so get there early on a weekend morning.

Great Cakes and Other tasty Treats! If you haven't tried their food you are in for a pleasant surpise! My Husband and I wish We would have had our wedding cake made there! Unfortunately, we did not know about it until recently. But it is definitely a must try. Call ahead and special order a cake for a special occasion or drop by and find a great treat on the spot!
YUMMY!

I have had more than my fair share of tastings of the offerings from this bakery. The cakes from Freeport are amazing. I have had the carrot cake, cheesecake (strawberry and chocolate), chocolate cake, and chocolate with strawberries. All of them were absolutely fabulous. I am not even a fan of pure chocolate cake, but their chocolate cake is like gold in your mouth. If you feel like indulging order from Freeport Bakery!
Best dessert ever

I hate to say it but this place is fantastic. I just had to have seconds, then took some home with me. I was visiting Sacramento and tried this place, sure glad I do not live in Sacramento or I would be over there two three times a week.
Still Great

I have been gone from Sacramento for nearly eight years. I move back and I am thrilled to see that the Freeport Bakery is still as good as when I left. The breads are awsome and the carrot cake is the best I have ever had.
- Pros: great pastries, inexpensive
- Cons: , can get crowded
Charming

This bakery has some of the best work in Sacramento. Awesome cakes - personal favorites are the beehive cake and carrot cake. Pastries are out of sight - always fresh and tasty. Can't go wrong with the bear claws. And they always have something seasonal.
