I ordered two scoops of two different flavors, butter pecan & some type of chocolate. The butter pecan tasted stale. The chocolate flavor had little shivers of ice throughout and tasted stale. Anyone who really appreciates quality ice cream knows that these are signs of improperly stored and/or old ice cream. The portions may be large, but it's like have a large cowpie instead of a small one. It's still a cowpie. I can't believe someone would have the audacity to compare this cheap quality ice cream to Cold Stone.

Cons: Stale taste, ice shivers throughout ice cream

I haven't been to Leatherby's in a long long time....and now I remember why. We went last night. The restaurant was dirty...may have been all the french fries on the floor..... The service was good. We ordered a hamburger and a reuben. The $7.25 hamburger was fair if you're into frozen patties and not much else. The french fries were fried way to long. The reuben was awful. I think that a reuben is supposed to have sauerkraut, swiss cheese and corned beef, on grilled rye. The sandwich we received did have sauerkraut and grilled rye....that's about all. There was no discernable cheese and one thin Buddig type slice of corned beef. When the waiter came around we asked about it. He did go and bring a little more...very very disappointing. We ordered a black and tan sundae to take home. It might have been that. Couldn't tell for sure what it was. Packed in a styrofoam cup. I guess we should have eaten it there...but then there's those french fries on the floor to look at....Don't waste your time. We won't be back.

Pros: the waiter brought water as we sat down

Cons: food and cleanliness of store was AWFUL

Its SO hard to not come here when its just a few blocks away from here. Its been a childhood favorite and...to adult I still come here and order from them. They hire the best people to work their that make you feel comfortable and make you feel at ease. Their burgers and fries are tasty and made to order. But definitely going here for dessert, you have to split it up amongst people. I always had a banana split with at least 4-6 people to finish on a EMPTY stomach. So prepare yourself! The prices are very decent for the quality and taste of food.

This old-fashioned ice cream parlor is a great place to get together with a group of friends, however it is usually populated with high school students after dances and birthday parties. The ice cream is totally worth it though! Be sure to get something with the marshmellow sauce on it and don't be intimidated by the portion sizes. It will be gone before you know it!

Pros: Great ice cream

Cons: Crowded

We heard this place hyped up so decided to try it out. Unimpressive atmosphere, just so-so ice cream, and overpriced. We will not be back any time soon.

Pros: ?

Cons: the ice cream itself, the atmosphere, the price

I went for the first time a couple years ago and it was awesome, great place to hangout with the family and just have a good time. the atmosphere is exciting, loud, and fun. the portions are enormous, and all the ice-cream is awesome you cant go wrong. I opted for the sundae and got the works. its an absolute must see in sacramento.

Pros: portions , crowd , fun

I've gone to Leatherby's for the last 20 years. Even after moving away from Sacramento, when I'm back in town, I have to stop in to get my fix. Their endless variety of sundaes makes each trip fun and new. Their grilled cheese sandwiches are excellent and, overall, it's a wonderful spot to meet with family and friends.

Pros: Variety, Tasty , Great atmosphere

Leatherby's is a long time family favorite. The food is mearly adequate but the reason you are here is the ice cream! The servings are HUGE so be careful what you wish for! Usually the Small Sundae is more than sufficient for me. It comes with vanilla but you can substitue any of their flavors. Mocha Royale with homemade hot fudge is my favorite! It can get very loud and crowded on weekend evenings but you can always get your ice cream to go from the front counter.

Pros: Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream

Cons: Can get Crowded, Can get Noisy

This is just good Ice Cream. For those who haven't been, It one place you can say go there once, you'll be there twice. no doubt! take you're little ones and order a Daddy Daves Banana Split, and watch their expression. "Priceless!" Enjoy.

If you've never been to Leatherby's, you just have to go. There is nothing better than a sharing a large banana split with the one you love in a 50's type setting. The service is great and the atmosphere is perfect for any occasion. We live right down the street, and it is always a treat! I'd recommend the Black and Tan with toasted almond ice cream. Don't forget to take home some homemade caramel sauce for the road. It's to die for.

Pros: Value, Variety, Venue

Cons: small water glasses
