Great Moroccan Food!

by tolds4

This food was excellent and very exotic. Do not expect to see silver ware as the food is expected to be eaten with the hands. From the cushions on the floor to the copper table tops, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was timely and friendly.

  • Pros: Ambience, Service, party like atmosphere.
  • Cons: Must trust that others in the party have clean hands.

Fun, different night out to dinner

by ssterling

This is a very fun, unique place to go have dinner. I have read a few of the reviews and was shocked anyone would not love it. If you are looking for a fast meal, then go to Taco Bell... This is a nice long meal, with entertainment to boot! A dancer comes out in the evening and entertains the tables. The second time we went to the resturant, my Daughter had her Jasmine outfit on!

Food is very good and there is lots of it!

Highly recommend.

OK food, horrible service

by ekaygee

What happened to this place? Every time I came here it was great. Sometimes the service was a bit slow, but otherwise it was a great time.

Not this last time. Not at all.

First we were seated and then ignored for about 15 to 20 minutes. At some point someone took our drink order, and it showed up 10 minutes later. The pacing of the food is very messed up now. Instead of a steady progression of courses, you will get your meal in two blobs with a lot of time in the middle. And god forbid you want another drink... by the time you flag down a waiter (which is impossible because they haul out food and ignore you, then race back to the kitchen) and wait for your drink the meal will be almost over.

This should be especially distressing to the owner since alcohol is a great profit center.

Also god forbid anything is wrong with your meal, as the waitstaff and manager will just sneer at you and ask you what your problem is. Don't even try to have them correct the problem because as far as they are concerned it is your fault. We did not get some of the items from our "souika" menu variety and the manager gave some supreme BS about how the "souika" menu is just a suggestion (no really, he said this) and that technically everything on there is a "freebie" and "subject to change" (change, not deletion at the same price, Mr. Fraudster Sir).

Now, I'm not saying you can't have a good meal here. It's very possible you will. But if anything at all goes wrong, be aware that it will be your fault and you will still be paying full price unless you call the sheriff to mediate (which we almost did, we were so angry).

Are you willing to play the Marrakech Lottery?

Worst service I've ever experienced

by sophiaagafonow

It was humiliating. There were 6 people in my group and not everybody was hungry, 4 of us were going to eat and all of us were going to have drinks, when We explained our server what We wanted He got obviously upset, started raising his voice and told us that We all had to order food or had to leave, We suggested They should explain that policy at the entrance and not after We sat and everybody can hear the server yelling at us like We were criminals. Think twice before visitting this place, it can turn out very, very ugly!!!

For the first timer, a must go. For someone familiar with Moroccan, welcome home.

by drgnflyz

Unlike many typicaly restaurants, you will be shocked at the culture that is about to greet you. The pricing is basic because you have only 2 options. You pick your main dish and you are done. Form there, expect great unique food, expect to be filled, expect fond memories. The experience allows you to eat with your fingers. My favorite part is the Bstilla, Pastilla, B'stila. I have seen it written many ways but who cares, it is fabulous. It is hearty, tasty, crispy, meaty and sweet. The ambience is beautiful. Really shocking considing the area it is located. You leave the streets of Sacramento to enter the walls of North Africa. The belly dancing is fun. The seating is cozy. I can't think of a single down fall. Extremely romantic. Quite family friendly. I've tried to be vague as what to expect, just so it is not ruined for you. Go now and have fun!

  • Pros: Beautiful decor, great food, wonderful experience
  • Cons: I wish there was more of these and less McDs'

You will not want to stop eating, the food is so good!!!! The staff is wonderful. The ambience is great whether you are there to watch the belly dancers or have a quiet corner retreat.

A trip with out leaving the USA

by lavendertea

I did not know what to expect, I was just out for a good dinner at a new spot. Wow....

What a unique and delightful experience. I traveled the miles to a different land as I entered the restaurant. I took in all around me with awe, as if I were there in Moroco. The service was perfectly done, with grace and honor to traditions. Eating was an experience in itself, the flavors were superb. What a surpise it was to have the entertainment, I was totally mezmerized. I completely enjoyed myself and will return with others for sure. As I left I half expected to be walking out on to the streets of Moroco.

  • Pros: The service, food and entertainment
  • Cons: The location seems almost hidden

A really unique experience

by hoffy

I have experienced Marrakech six times, under very different circumstances, with family, friends and even dates. Each visit was unique and exceptional.

Don't dine here before an event - this is an event. Pace yourself through the courses as the portions are generous (hot spicy chicken is not for the timid). By the end of the meal, the wait staff were like friends. The Moroccan red wine was absolutely worth the restaurant price, a rare surprise. Marrakech is a Sacramento secret that shouldn't be.

  • Pros: "complete dinner", lounging on cushions, moroccan wine!?
  • Cons: "retired" hooka

Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner for two or a place to bring a big group of friends Marrakech is it! Marrakech is exotic and definitely out of the ordinary. The fabulous food and great entertainment, combined with some of the friendliest people in town, make for an entire evening full of fun that can't be beat. We have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. You and your friends will leave with a smile.

  • Pros: Romantic, Fun, Different

Totally Unique Experience

by bgenzoli

Don't judge the restaurant from it's outside appearance! The food was out of this world. You get to indulge yourself, not only in Moroccan cuisine, but their culture as well. Great experience for the entire family. From the moment you enter the Marrakech, you know you've been transported somewhere special. Our family goes to Marrakech regularly now, and we absolutely enjoy every trip. They really treat you special.

  • Pros: Nice price, Wonderful service, Unique experience
  • Cons: None
